I Glow in the Dark! (Day 28 of 28)

Today I got a whole lot of x-rays. Maybe a bajillion. Actually, I think I had 7 or 8 total of several different angles of my hip and lower back. At first I was only getting them to confirm that nothing major was wrong, but a few things did turn up. Although, the good doctor (my dad) doesn't think anything is wrong which would cause the problems with my hip.

In short, we found that my right SI joint is a little 'off' and the end of my spine curves a little more than normal, aka I have a "shelf butt." I'm sure thats the technical term, too!

The chiropractor that works at my dad's office gave me a bunch more exercises to do. Surprisingly, there was no overlap whatsoever with the ones my PT gave me. I guess they just have two completely different approaches? Most of the new ones are all for strengthening my core, which falls in line with my winter goals, so I'm game!

Tomorrow is my debut. One mile. Nice and easy. Just a tease for what (I hope) is coming up!

Doug,

I can see you from here - you are like the runners' version of Rudolph.

That pesky SI joint can take a long time to heal - I have struggled with mine for about 9 years on and off - but the exercises - if you do them - really help.

Can't wait to hear about your mile. And especially if you hold yourself to the mile. Been there - I remember I cheated the first week back. As a running addict - let me tell you - it's not worth it. Stay with the mile.

Good luck and happy turkey day!

Hmmm, I'm glad you got the pics and nothing is majorly wrong and also got them of the back. PT guy thinks my hip pain could be my back and xrays are likely the next step for me too. And, I haven't posted because (hands head) I didn't do a long run for you. I am slipping and RegularRunnerGirl is slipping away. I have got to nip this in the bud. I hope you have a great debut mile. Take it easy.

Ohhhhh I totally have a self butt but it's not because of my spine. It would be because of all the chips/chocolate, and pastries :P

Good luck today!!! ;D ;D

wow--you'll have to ask your dad for me what the billing code on a bajillion films is...
i'd pat myself on the back for the SI call, but i'm still waiting to see if it fixes the problem.

I'm excited to hear about your first run! You have been doing more cross-training than I, so hopefully you won't be huffing and puffing as much.
